On Thursday 20th November, 'Band of Brothers' joined a number of 'White Ribbon UK' ambassadors, also speaking with Councillors, local Businesses, Charities, Non-Profits and residents, across a variety of demographics about the many ways we can all contribute to creating a safer community, believing Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) isn't just a "women's issue" - it's a societal one. Men play a big part in reshaping our community to be safer for Women and Girls, by calling out misogynistic and harmful views, adjusting poor attitudes and standing against sexual harassment and coercive/non-consensual behaviour.

Keen to undertake our responsibility to help end Violence Against Women and Girls, 'Band of Brothers' signed the pledge, showing our commitment to helping keep women and girls safe in our Community, by becoming a 'Supporter Organisation'. Taking the 'White Ribbon' message into their workplaces, communities and among their friends, family and colleagues, our Executive Director is a 'White Ribbon Ambassador', leading change at 'Band of Brothers'.

Having successfully met several fantastic organisations across London Borough of Sutton, we are pleased to collaborate with 'Sutton Women's Centre' - an established Organisation for almost 40 years, supporting women, particularly those surviving domestic and sexual abuse.
Attending the 'Ask Me (Change That Lasts) Ambassador' programme in early November, has strengthened the understanding of our Board, in the challenges many men and women face, in silence, and equipped us with the skills to:
🔹 Start supportive, stigma-free conversations;
🔹 Recognise when someone may be struggling;
🔹 Offer safe, empathetic routes to further support;
🔹 Encourage openness, resilience, and connection;
🔹 Challenge negative mindsets and behaviours;
🔹 Be more proactive 'bystanders' in our community.

Having established some events within the London Borough of Sutton, we quickly realised that we were desperately in need of promotional material, including banners, merchandise and print media (flyers, posters and business cards), to help spread the word about what we do even further, but lacked the necessary funding to be able to make this happen!
We took ourselves to 'Sutton Soup' - the amazing community event where locals come together to support projects making a real difference, where Jim gave an emotional, but effective explanation of what 'Band of Brothers' does and why we needed the money. To our astonishment, we were announced the winners, taking home £1230.50.
A huge thank you to everyone who voted for us and to the Sutton Soup community for believing in our mission to support men’s mental health and reduce the high rate of male suicide in our borough! 🙏🏻

By reaching even more participants at our free members events, we realised we needed to spend some time working on the governance of our organisation, recruiting more Trustees to join our Board and Volunteers. We warmly welcome Matt, wh
