Founded in April 2025, the idea of 'Band of Brothers' quickly emerged during a difficult period for our founding member (Jim), troubled by grief, anxiety and depression. Knowing he couldn't be the only man to experience homelessness, addictions and separation, he began talking to friends about the idea of holding regular meet-ups, helping one another through life's challenges.
Quickly appreciating the idea, John and Jim - friends for nearly 25 years, took to the streets of Carshalton Beeches, to walk 4 miles, discussing everyday things, including family, work and COVID conspiracy theories. Enjoying their time together, they decided to trial it for 6 weeks, posting about the walks online, which saw more men join, including Ben and Matt.
In June 2025, 'Band of Brothers' became registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC); a private company for public benefit. Quixkly establishing a Board of Trustees, they got to work in setting out our Key principles, to help govern what and who we are today. As a grassroots, peer-to-peer supportive community, set-up by local men - for local men, we've maintained our original concept of being built on connection, social inclusion and emotional resilience, focusing on mental health, wellbeing and a shared commitment to positive change.
We currently operate throughout the London Borough of Sutton, but through a network of collaborative partners, have some exciting opportunities for growth in 2026.
